Welcome
Swan Meadow School is a unique
school in Garrett County, Maryland. We have 64
students in grades one through eight; kindergarten students
are home schooled. Almost all of our students are Amish or
Mennonite from the rural farming community of Pleasant
Valley.
Student activities include a Home Arts
Program, a Woodworking Program, and the
Accelerated Math and Reading Programs. More information
about these activities can be found on the Programs
and Activities page.
The school's annual fundraiser, the
Harvest Sale, has been held for the last
fifty-eight years in early fall. An auction of farm produce,
baked goods, and handmade crafts, provided by families and
students of Swan Meadow School, highlights the
evening. Come for supper and enjoy the taco salad, nachos,
hot dogs, chili dogs, and sloppy joes. Patrons can also
sample mouthwatering homemade doughnuts, caramels, fudge,
cookies, caramel popcorn, no-bake cookies, and apple cider.
Proceeds from the Harvest Sale are used for field
trips and special equipment for the school. Join us at the
Pleasant Valley Community Center next September 2008 for
our 59th Harvest Sale. Concessions will open by 5:30,
singing will be at 6:45, and the auction will begin at 7:00
PM. We hope to see you there this year!
